The workshop “My First Shooting” aims at those who do not have any experience in shooting, directing and editing documentary films. In fact, it is open to all who are interested, including the ones who have some experience with working on film, but who still have some doubts about how to round a story or how to distribute
duties in a team, as well as those who have never taken a camera into their hands and want to learn something new.

The basic method of work is informal socializing, learning through lot of practical work and adjusting to the needs and abilities of the participants. The workshop provides the basic knowledge and skills necessary to make a short documentary film, from an idea to realization. We will try to go through the basics, from a short
theoretical introduction to film language and introduction to the specificities of the documentary genre, through visual examples and analysis of short documentary forms to the most important thing –practical work with a camera, sound recording and video editing. A particular topic will be chosen and through discussion and sharing of ideas it will be made into a short documentary film.
The workshop is led by young but skilful members of the Filmaktiv association from Rijeka, who have already filmed a number of documentaries and who think that there are no stupid questions.
