A three-day workshop explaining to the young ones what is sound and what is its role in moving images – in cinema. Working in groups, the participants will learn about the elements a sound image consists of, or more accurately, they will make their first steps in learning to listen. In continuation, the participants will
use sound recording devices and video editing programmes together with their mentors and try to learn how to bring a video image to sound.
The workshop Sound Image and Sound on Film is part of the broader programme, First Steps in Filmmaking, launched by the Restart Association, meant to provide children with basic knowledge about film and media creativity.

About the leaders

Tomislav Domes
born in 1979, political scientist, cultural worker and music producer. Together with Ivan Slipčević, in 2000 he launched the Zvuk brod duo and during the 2000s published over 15 original electro-music albums and performed at all the important clubbing events in Croatia and the region. As a music and sound composer he collaborated on several films by Ana Hušman, as well as other artistic and cultural projects. A passionate ukulele player, he regularly posts his works on http://soundcloud.com/domes.

Ana Hušman
born 1977 in Zagreb. In 2002 she graduated from the Department of Multimedia and the Academy of Fine Art in Zagreb, teaching department. She participated at numerous local and foreign exhibitions and festivals. She is a teaching docent at the Zagreb Academy of Fine Art, Department of Animated Film and New Media. Her latest works earned her many Croatian and international awards. 

She makes experimental films exploring and studying the possibilities of animation, documentary elements in film, working with unskilled actors, voice and the possibility of articulation etc.
