Maja Alibegović

CV:

Maja Alibegović (b. 1987, Ljubljana) graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts and Design, University of Ljubljana, Slovenia. During her studies, she took up photography and designed scenography for some events and a theatre play. Her photographic work has been nominated for the ESSL ART AWARD CEE (2011) and won second place at Emzin’s Photo of the Year Award (2011). During her studies, she also graduated from the School for curators and critics of contemporary art, World of Art (SCCA-Ljubljana, 2011-2013). In 2013 she moved to Berlin, where she worked at the Gregor Podnar Gallery for a year. After returning to Slovenia in 2016, she dedicated herself to film. “Good Hunting!” (2017) is her first short documentary film. It was produced at Zagreb’s School of Documentary Film Restart.

Slovenian hunting tradition consists of a series of hunting habits, rules and rituals which are not only an elementary part of hunting culture but play an important part in preserving Slovenian national identity. Through stories and explanations of hunters, the film gives insight into life and customs as well as numerous, still dominating men's communities in Slovenia.
